Wild Swarm Slot Review

How long would you keep spinning for a bonus you can watch getting closer? Wild Swarm, a 2018 Push Gaming release, is built around that question. Every bee that lands in the base game flies into a hive above the reels, and the hive climbs through five levels on its way to Swarm Mode, a 10-spin round stacked with sticky wilds. The Wild Swarm slot runs on a 5x4 grid with 20 paylines, and this version returns 97.03%, above the 96% mark most slots settle around. The best result the studio has recorded is 3,069x the stake, modest for the risk level, so the case for this game rests on how its three bonus routes feed each other.

RTP, Volatility & Max Win

Start with the numbers, because they shape every session. A 97.03% return paired with a mid-high volatility rating means the game gives back more than most over the long run but hands it out unevenly. Expect runs of small line hits, broken up by a chest prize or a free games round that does the heavy lifting.

The 3,069x figure is the biggest win Push Gaming has observed, not a hard cap written into the maths. Even so, it sits low for a game with this much swing, and the later sequels in the series push their listed ceilings well past it. Studio fans who care most about the top prize could compare it with the Retro Tapes demo, a high-volatility cluster game from the same developer with a highest observed win of 10,000x.

Theme & Symbols

The reels sit in the middle of a dim forest, boxed in by a wooden frame, with a single hive dangling from the branches overhead. The art is cartoonish rather than eerie. Sound stays in the background too: rustling leaves, a steady hum of bees, and a satisfying crack whenever the hive gives way.

Low pays are the usual J, Q, K and A, carved to look like planks with leaves tucked around them. The premium set runs from a purple flower and a white flower through a honey jar and the Queen Bee to a dollar sign dripping with honey. For another nature setting with far more upside, Wild Ape from PG Soft swaps paylines for cluster pays on a 6x6 grid and lists a 10,000x maximum.

Five special symbols do the real work here. Wild Honey substitutes for every paying symbol but not for the hive scatter or the chest. The sticky wild only appears inside the free games and Swarm Mode. The hive scatter opens free games, the chest opens a pick round, and the bee exists purely to feed the hive, leaving a regular wild behind wherever it lands.

Wild Swarm Bonus Features

Free Games

Count hives, not lines. Three of them anywhere on the reels hand over seven free games, a fourth lifts the total to 10, and a full set of five is worth 15. Every wild that lands during the round turns sticky and stays put until the last spin, so a slow start can still end with most of the grid covered.

Pick Feature

The chest can land anywhere, in the base game and inside both bonus rounds. Landing one opens a screen of five hidden prizes. Base game picks can reveal bet multipliers of up to 250x, a set of free games, a Swarm Boost that jumps the hive up a level, or an instant trip into Swarm Mode. On the other end of the Push Gaming risk scale, Jiggys Pot Ogold is a low-volatility Irish game on a 3x3 grid with five lines, built for much gentler sessions than this one.

Collectable Bees & Swarm Mode

Bees only appear in the base game. Each one flies up into the hive, and the meter above the reels shows how far you are through the five levels. Progress carries from spin to spin, so a quiet hour of play still counts toward the next burst.

When the hive finally explodes, Swarm Mode starts with 10 free spins and several sticky wilds already sitting on the grid. Any new wild that lands sticks too. Once the round ends, a fresh hive appears, but it starts from a higher level rather than from zero, which makes the second burst quicker to reach than the first. Patience still matters: a hive at its top level can sit full for a long stretch before a bee finally sets it off.

The Wild Swarm Line-Up

Four entries from the series are live in our lobby, and the original still carries the highest return among them on these pages. The figures below come from each game's own page here.

GameRTP hereGridListed max winHow the bonus starts
Wild Swarm97.03%5x43,069x (highest observed)Hive scatters, the chest, or a bursting hive
Wild Swarm 296.67%5x410,000xHive scatters or a level 5 hive, with reel multipliers in free spins
Wild Swarm Triple Hive96.07%5x38,000xColoured bees fill three hives, each tied to its own feature
Wild Swarm 3 Chocolate Eggs96.69%n/an/aColoured bees fill three eggs with separate features

The sequel keeps the original layout and adds reel multipliers during free spins, 2x above reel 2 and 4x above reel 4. The two later spin-offs drop the scatter entirely: bees are collected by a Jackpot, Multiplier or Sticky hive (eggs in the Easter version), and combining features lengthens the round. The first game is the simplest of the four and the one with the best long-run return.

How to Play

Pick a stake, spin, and keep an eye on the meter above the reels rather than on each individual payline. Wins pay from the leftmost reel across the 20 lines. Bees, chests and hive scatters are the symbols that matter, since they are the only way into the bigger rounds. Autoplay handles long sessions, and the game runs the same way on phones and tablets as it does on desktop.

The Demo Play button on this page is the cheapest way to learn the hive's rhythm, because watching five levels fill costs nothing in fun mode. Real-money play accepts crypto, and anyone holding Ether can browse the ETH online casino section for other titles that settle in it. If a bonus that builds slowly in plain sight sounds more appealing than a random trigger, the hive is waiting here, and the demo is a sensible first stop before real stakes.

Pros

  • A 97.03% return, higher than every other entry in the series on our pages.
  • Hive progress carries between spins, so no bee is wasted.
  • Three separate routes into free spins: scatters, the chest and the hive.
  • Sticky wilds in both bonus rounds let a screen build up spin by spin.

Cons

  • A highest observed win of 3,069x is low for a mid-high volatility game.
  • A full hive can take a long time to burst.
  • The base game drags between features.
